2020 Race Day Information

Important Things to know

  1. Parking – Ample parking is at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina located at 1924 Capital Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604. You can turn in here off Capital Blvd or Crabtree Blvd. DO NOT PARK in the main parking lot at Gateway Plaza, as this is reserved for patrons of the businesses.
  2. Race Start – The Race Starts at 7:30am sharp right near the corner of Crabtree Boulevard and Timber Drive. The timing mat will remain open for a few minutes for those that don’t make it on time, but don’t be one of those people.
  3. Race Finish – The finish will be at the end of the greenway before you get back to Raleigh Boulevard. There’s a semi circle off the side of the greenway.
  4. Bag Check – We will have bag check at the packet pickup at HQ Gateway, located in Gateway Plaza. Please use your clear bag that you will be given at packet pick up. We will write your race bib number on it. You can pick up your bag at the post race party at Mordecai Beverage Co.
  5. Packet Pickup – See below for 3 options. We HIGHLY suggest your get your packet before race day.
    1. Thursday, February 20 from 5-7pm (Note: Will now start at 2pm and go until weather gets bad) at Runologie (1614 Automotive Way, Raleigh, NC 27604)
    2. Friday, February 21 from 4:30-6:30pm at Mordecai Beverage Co. (2425 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604)
    3. Saturday, February 22 (Race Day) from 6:15-7:00 at HQ Gateway (2409 Crabtree Blvd #107, Raleigh, NC 27604)

Spectators

There are a few spots that will be ideal for spectators, with parking:

  1. Lockwood Park located at 1200 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27610 (1.6 & 11.8 mile mark)
  2. Anderson Point Park located at 20 Anderson Point Dr, Raleigh, NC 27610 (Halfway Point)

Aid Stations

There will be 4 aid stations that runners will pass twice (aside from the halfway), for 7 total. They will be located as follows:

  1. Lockwood Park – 1.6m & 11.8m hosted by Runologie (Water + portojons)
  2. Milburnie Road – 2.6m & 10.8m hosted by Fleet Feet Raleigh (Water & Gatorade + portojons)
  3. “Mid” Greenway – 4.7m & 8.7m hosted by Raleigh Distance Project (Water & Gatorade)
  4. Anderson Point Park – 6.4m hosted by Oak City Recovery Run Club and Panther Creek Track (Water & Gatorade + bathrooms)

Additional Things to Know

  1. Pace Groups – There will be pace groups for 1:20, 1:25, 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, and 3:00. If you want to run with them, find them at the starting line.
  2. Timing – The race is chip timed and your chip is on your bib. Do not peel it off.
  3. ResultsLive Results will be here
  4. Course Course Map is here. Please do your best to stay to the RIGHT of the greenway.
  5. Swag – All competitors will receive a race t-shirt, as well as a Raleigh Half Marathon pint glass, courtesy of Pursuit Ales. Limited Edition Tracksmith Grayboys will be for sale.
  6. Refreshments – We will have complimentary bottles of water and Clif Bars at the finish line. Be sure and check out Gateway Restaurant, BREW, Union Special Bread, and the food trucks back at Gateway Plaza.
  7. Medals – All finishers will recieve a 2020 Raleigh Half Marathon medal.
  8. Awards – The Top 75 Men and Top 75 Women will recieve a hand made Raleigh Half Marathon Change Dish, made by Porch Dog Pots
  9. Photos – Jason Honeycutt / J. Cutt Photography will be taking photos. We will post an album on the Sir Walter Running Facebook page (make sure and “like” it). High Resolution photos will be available for purchase.
  10. No Dogs / Strollers – You cannot race with either. This is the USATF and RRCA State Championship and this is not permitted.
  11. Participants – A list of who’s running can be found here. Minors are not listed.
  12. Post Race Party – The Post Race party will be held immediately after the race at Mordecai Beverage Co.
  13. Lost and Found – Lose an item? Check the bag check. Otherwise, you can email us after the race at raleighhalfmarathon@gmail.com
  14. Weather Go here for the 10 day forecast. Note: The race is rain or shine. If there is thunder or lightning, we will follow proper safety protocols.
