2024 Raleigh Holiday Half Marathon Race Day Information

Important Things to know

  1. Parking – Parking will be at Gateway Plaza, by the Eastern NC Food Bank (enter via Crabtree side at 2425 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604), and at Powell Elementary (1130 Marlborough Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610). Parking is limited at Powell, so we suggest Gateway Plaza.
    Are you racing? Please take our parking survey so that we can plan accordingly!
  2. Shuttle – There will be 3 shuttle busses running from Gateway Plaza to Lockwood Park from 7am to Noon. This is for registered runners only. You will need to show your bib to get on the shuttle.
  3. Getting dropped off? – See the map below for traffic flow by Lockwood Park
  4. Race Start – The Race Starts at 8:00am sharp right by 1316 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27610, which is near Lockwood Park. The timing mat will remain open for a few minutes for those that don’t make it on time, but don’t be one of those people. Get there early and take the shuttle!
  5. Bathrooms – There will be 8 bathrooms at Packet Pickup in Raleigh Founded at Gateway. There will be 10 portapotties by the starting line. There will be 2 portapotties by the finish. And there are physical bathrooms at Anderson Point Park.
  6. Race Finish – The finish will be on the field to the right of Lockwood Park, just before the hill. You can point your GPS to 1176 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27610.
  7. Bag Check – We will have bag check at the packet pickup at Raleigh Founded at Gateway and at the starting line near Lockwood Park. Please use your clear bag that you will be given at packet pick up. We will write your race bib number on it. You can pick up your bag at the finish if you left it at the start, or the post-race party at Mordecai Beverage Co. if you left it at Raleigh Founded at Packet Pickup.
  8. Packet Pickup – See below for 3 options. We HIGHLY suggest your get your packet before race day.
    1. Thursday, December 5th from 5-7pm at Runologie (1614 Automotive Way, Raleigh, NC 27604) (Pick up a Christmas Tree for Western NC while you’re there)
    2. Friday, December 6th from 4:30-6:30pm at Mordecai Beverage Co. (2425 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604)
    3. Saturday, December 7th (Race Day) from 6:30-7:30am at Raleigh Founded at Gateway Plaza ( 2409 Crabtree Blvd, Ste 107, Raleigh, NC 27604). There will be NO Packet Pickup at the Starting Line!

Spectators

There are a few spots that will be ideal for spectators, with parking:

  1. Anderson Point Park – ~4.9m & ~8.2m at 20 Anderson Point Dr, Raleigh, NC 27610 – There are 2 parking lots.
  2. Turnaround at Poole Rd Greenway entrance at 1721 Riverview Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610 – Parking Lot
  3. Lockwood Park at Finish – 1176 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27610 – Park at Powell Elementary or wherever there is not a No Parking sign.

Aid Stations

There will be 4 aid stations that runners will pass twice (aside from the halfway), for 6 total. They will be located as follows:

  1. Milburnie Road (where the greenway hits the road) – ~1m & ~12.1m (Water) – Street Parking
  2. Mid-greenway – 3m & 10.1m (Water, Tailwind) – No parking
  3. Anderson Point Park – ~4.9m & ~8.2m (Water, Tailwind, Bathrooms) – 2 parking lots
  4. Turnaround at Poole Rd Greenway entrance at 1721 Riverview Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610 (Water, Tailwind) – Parking Lot

Additional Things to Know

  1. Pace Groups – There will be pace groups for 1:20, 1:25, 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, and 3:00. If you want to run with them, find them at the starting line.
  2. Timing – The race is chip timed and your chip is on your bib. Do not peel it off.
  3. ResultsLive Results will be here
  4. Course Course Map is here. Please do your best to stay to the RIGHT of the greenway.
  5. Swag – All competitors will receive a race t-shirt, koozie as well as a Raleigh Holiday Half Marathon sticker (while they last).
  6. Refreshments – We will have complimentary bottles of water and snacks at the finish line. Be sure and check out Mordecai Beverage Co. afterwards.
  7. Medals – All finishers will receive a 2024 Raleigh Half Marathon medal.
  8. Awards – The Top 75 Men and Top 75 Women will receive a Raleigh Holiday Half Marathon Coffee Mug, as well as age group winners (1st) outside of the Top 75.
  9. Photos – We will post an album on the Sir Walter Running Facebook page (make sure and “like” it).
  10. No Dogs – You cannot race with your pets. Sorry.
  11. Participants – A list of who’s running is here (minors are not listed)
  12. Post Race Party – The Post Race party will be held immediately after the race at Mordecai Beverage Co.
  13. Lost and Found – Lose an item? Check the bag check. Otherwise, you can email us after the race at raleighhalfmarathon@gmail.com
  14. Weather Go here for the 10 day forecast. Note: The race is rain or shine. If there is thunder or lightning, we will follow proper safety protocols.
