  1. I can’t run. Can I get a refund or transfer my bib?
    If you register and cannot participate, you will be refunded 50% of your entry fee (minus fees), prior to September 30, 2024. No refunds will be offered on or after 10/1/2023. No transfers or deferrals will be allowed. You can opt to run the Virtual Half Marathon instead. To cancel or change your entry to the Virtual Half Marathon, please email RaleighHalfMarathon@gmail.com The last day to convert to virtual is November 30th.
  2. If I run the Virtual Half Marathon, how do I get my race packet?
    Unless you let us know otherwise, all Virtual Half Marathon participants will be mailed their race packets, which will include shirt, koozie, sticker and medal.
  3. Is there a time limit?
    Yes. The time limit will be 3:30. Times beyond this will not be recorded.
  4. Is there an age limit?
    We recommend no one younger than 14 run the event. New York Road Runners minimum age for the half marathon is 16 and Boston Athletic Association’s minimum age is 14. If you have a special request, feel free to contact us.
  5. Where do I park?
    Parking will be at Gateway Plaza, by the Eastern NC Food Bank (enter via Crabtree side at 2425 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604), and at Powell Elementary (1130 Marlborough Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610). Parking is limited at Powell. We suggest the shuttle from Gateway!
    Are you racing? Please take our parking survey so that we can plan accordingly!
  6. Will there be a shuttle? There will be 3 shuttle busses running from Gateway Plaza to Lockwood Park from 7am to Noon. This is for registered runners only. You will need to show you bib to get on the shuttle.

  8. Can I stash my stuff at the Start / Finish?
    Yes! We will have bag check at the packet pickup at Raleigh Founded at Gateway and at the starting line near Lockwood Park. Please use your clear bag that you will be given at packet pick up. We will write your race bib number on it. You can pick up your bag at the finish if you left it at the start, or the post-race party at Mordecai Beverage Co. if you left it at Raleigh Founded at Packet Pickup.
  9. What about porta potties?
    We will have porta potties by the starting line and at Lockwood Park.
  10. Will I get a medal?
    Yes. All finishers will get a medal, including those that run the Virtual Half Marathon.
  11. Is the race USATF Certified? 
    Yes. Map coming soon! Until then, check out the course page.
  12. Is the Raleigh Half Marathon the Half Marathon State Championship?
    Yes! USATF for 2024.
  13. Will there be age group awards?
    Yes. Top 75 Men and Women earn a Raleigh Holiday Half Marathon Coffee Mug, as well as age group winners not in the Top 75. We will list age group results in standard 5 year increments.
  14. I’m an elite athlete, can I get preferred entry?
    Yes, go here for standards.
  15. When is packet pickup?
    Thursday, December 5th from 5-7pm at Runologie / Pine State Coffee (Pick up a Christmas Tree for Western NC while you’re there)
    Friday, December 6th from 4:30-6:30pm at Mordecai Beverage Co.
    Race Day at Raleigh Founded at Gateway Plaza from 6:30-7:30am. There will be no Packet Pickup at the Starting Line!
  16. Where will the aid stations be?
    1. Milburnie Road (where the greenway hits the road) – ~1m & ~12.1m (Water)
    2. Mid-greenway – 3m & 10.1m (Water, Tailwind)
    3. Anderson Point Park – ~4.9m & ~8.2m (Water, Tailwind, Bathrooms)
    4. Turnaround at Poole Rd Greenway entrance at 1721 Riverview Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610 (Water, Tailwind)
  17. Where is the Post Race Party?
    The Post Race party will be held at Mordecai Beverage Co.
  18. Can you mail me my packet?
    No. Race day packet pickup will be available though.
  19. I’d like to Volunteer. How do I sign up?
    Go here to Volunteer (or to sign up to pace). Volunteers will get a Sir Walter Squirrel Squad Shirt, and more!
  20. Can I race with my dog?
    No. Unfortunately, we can not allow this for a variety of reasons.
  21. Are jogging strollers allowed?
    Yes. Single strollers only. No doubles will be allowed because of the out and back greenway format, the volume of runners, and the need to keep access for medical vehicles, we cannot accommodate jogging strollers.
  22. Who else is running?
    A participant list is here. Minors are not listed.
  23. What if the race is cancelled?
    If for some reason the race has to be cancelled, Sir Walter Running will host a Pop Up style Half Marathon event where we will distribute medals to all finishers, as well as all pre-race materials (T-Shirts, etc.)
