Public Service Announcement: Inaugural Raleigh Half Marathon hits the Neuse River Greenway on Sunday, April 14th

March 15, 2019 – Raleigh, North Carolina – On Sunday, April 14th, the inaugural Raleigh Half Marathon will kick off it’s first year with a sold out event, starting and finishing at Buffaloe Road Athletic Park (with the finish on the track), with the majority of the race taking place on the Neuse River Greenway Trail. There will be heavy traffic on the Neuse between mile markers 11.5 to 5.5, from 8:00am (start) to 11:30am (race time limit).

The USATF sanctioned event feautures a certified course that was measured by Clockwork Race Timing, who will also provide timing. The event will serve as the USATF and RRCA North Carolina State Championship. All finishers will recieve medals, and the first 75 Men and the first 75 Women will recieve recieve a one of a kind, handcrafted Raleigh Half Marathon cup from Porch Dog Pots.

The event will feature an Olympic Marathon Trials Standard chase, where Men that run 1:04:00 or under, and Women that best or equal 1:13:00 will qualify for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials on February 29, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia. The event is also a featured race on Strava.

There will be 4 aid stations that runners will pass twice (aside from the turnaround). They will be located as follows: Mile 1 (and 12) – Runologie (Water, Gatorade), Mile 3.1 (and 10) – Run N Tri Outfitters and Greenway Run Club (Water, Gatorade), Mile 5.25 (and 7.75) – Fleet Feet Raleigh (Water, Gatorade, Portable Toilet), and the Turnaround – Pace Yourself Run Co. (Water, Honey Stinger Organic Mango Orange Gels).

The Post Race party will be held at Greenway Beer and Wine, starting at 11am. Marathon Brewing Company will have pint glasses to give out for the first 70 people that show up. Run N Tri Outfitters will have raffles on the hour, and Fuzzy’s Empanadas Food Truck will be on site.  Plant Cakes Bake Shop will have cookies and cupcakes for sale.
