Friends,
It almost didn’t happen, but now it will!
The Raleigh Holiday Half Marathon is back for its 5th year in 2023, on the standard “holi-date” of the first Saturday in December, which this year falls on December 2, 2023.
But… the course has changed. While we fully intend to return to our beloved Gateway Plaza to Anderson Point Park and back route (via the Crabtree Creek Trail), you may have noticed that the section from Raleigh Boulevard to Lockwood Park is getting an upgrade. This moving of the greenway off the creekside is going to be amazing, but it won’t be done until spring.
So with that in mind, we dug deep and found a fun new route that lines up nicely for a fast, and more importantly fun, event! We’ll start on the track at River Bend Middle School and head north up the Neuse River Trail. We’ll go out a little past the Capital Boulevard bridge before returning and finishing on the track. We’ll then have a killer post-race party at Heyday Brewing. They’re even gonna make a beer for us!
Mostly everything else will remain the same! It will be the RRCA State Championship. We’ll have medals for all and mugs for the Top 75 Men and Women, and we’ll have 3 aid stations that you’ll hit twice apiece. The course is mostly dead flat with a few little rolling hills, but say goodbye to Mount Greenway…
Sign up now through the end of September for only $59 here: raleighhalfmarathon.com/register
And we’ll need volunteers and pacers too (you know who you are)!
This is our way of doing a fundraiser. So thanks for supporting Sir Walter and ensuring the 2024 Sir Walter Miler will be back and better than ever!
Your friends,
Sir Walter Running
